Congratulations on your new tattoo! Now that the fun part is over here is how to properly heal your new tattoo so it settles in solid and looks great for years to come.
-
Roughly two hours after the completion of your tattoo you can now take the Saran Wrap off and wash it.
-
Wash your hands well and then your new tattoo thoroughly using liquid dial gold antibacterial soap making sure to get all of the plasma (slime) off. Rinse your tattoo off thoroughly making sure the water doesn’t sit on the fresh tattoo for very long and pat it dry with paper towels. (Do not use bath towels! These hold bacteria and can cause an infection)
-
Once your tattoo is dry re-wrap it with Saran Wrap. (Do not use what is in your kitchen already, get a new clean roll just for your tattoos) ~ Occasionally a reaction will occur due to the wrap ie. rash, or bumps. If this happens stop using the wrap immediately and continue to step 5.
-
Now repeat this process 3-4 times a day for the next three days.
-
On the third day take the Saran Wrap off, clean it as usual and instead of wrapping it use a very thin layer or gloss of Griffin Salve covering the tattoo.
-
Repeat 2-3 times a day until completely healed.
Tips: Do not go swimming! Or sunbathing! This will destroy your new tattoo! Do not touch your healing tattoo unless you are washing it with clean hands. Keep it as dry as possible while showering still using paper towels to dry it. Remember, your new tattoo is an open wound so keeping it clean and free of debris is the safest way to avoid an infection.
